What is Epinephrine?

Epinephrine is a catecholamine that is produced by the adrenal gland, and secreted when the sympathetic nervous system is stimulated. It is usually in response to stress. An epinephrine injection may be given to someone having a systemic allergic reaction in order to keep the airway from closing.
