What is Lichen Sclerosis?

Lichen sclerosus is a long-term problem of the skin that primarily affects the genital and anal areas, but can also appear on the upper body, breasts and upper arms. Early on, shiny, smooth, white spots appear that later grow into bigger patches. The patches can eventually become thin and crackled, tear easilly, and bright red/purple bruises appear. Scarring can occur. With mild cases, there may be no symptoms.
