Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding is a standard coding system applied to medical procedures and services for patient records. CPT was developed by the American Medical Association (AMA) and used by doctors, hospitals, patients, insurance companies, and third parties. CPT coding is often now required of medical office personnel.
