Dr. Daniel Hale Williams is an African American physician who received his degree in 1883. He began his practice in Chicago when there were less than a handful of African American doctors. Dr. Williams, an extremely skillful surgeon, was the founder of Provident Hospital, located In Chicago Illinois.
