Important information on how to treat a snake bite: First call 911 or try to get the wounded person to a hospital if there is one nearby, keep the bite below the level of the heart and do not elevate, wash the area with warm soap and water, take off and clothing or jewelry near the bitten area since there may be swelling. If the snake type is a coral or a cobra wrap the extremity with and elastic pressure bandage, starting with the point closest to the heart and wrap towards the fingers or toes. It is very important to keep the bite lower than the heart. Do not try cutting or sucking, this will just create infections.
