Dip is a slang term for smokeless tobacco. If you ever see someone standing around with a mouth full of stuff, and then spit it on the ground, or wipe a dribble of brown icky stuff off their chin, that means they are chewing dip, or chewing tobacco. It's a foul habit that often leads to having your tongue or lip snipped out.
