Formative assessment is defined as a teaching tool that allows a teacher to analyze how much a student has actually learned within a given period of time. The most common types of formative assessments come in the form of quizzes and tests given within certain intervals within a semester. Other types of formative assessment comes in the form of essays, papers, and projects.
