A pennyweight is a unit of weight or apothecary, which is often used in weighing gold and other metals. One pennyweight is the equivalent to 24 grains or 1/20 of a troy ounce. In addition, if you have 7.76 carat or 1.55 grams, then it would be equal to 1 pennyweight.
