How to Calculate Gear Ratios?

In order to calculate gear ratios, you must first be familiar with the formula, which is GR (gear ratio)=(# teeth on the gear) divided by (# of teeth on smaller gear or Pinion). If the gear has 12 teeth and the smaller gear has 9, the ratio is 12/9 or 1.33. You can find more information here: http://www.precisiongear.com/pgtechratio.htm
