Hot Plugging, or Hot Swapping is plugging or unplugging devices to your computer without shutting it down. Generally, USB devices are Hot Swappable. But you shouldn't attempt Hot Plugging or Swapping things like monitors, printers or ps/2 keyboards and/or mice.
