What is Cyclic Redundancy Check?

Cyclic redundancy check or CRC is a means of checking the integrity of files that are transmitted over a medium. This is done by analyzing the data and devising a CRC code to identify it. Then after the information is transferred the data is again analyzed and compared to the previous CRC code to see if the integrity has been maintained. If not, it is re-transmitted.
